The bell-shaped flowers not only look fantastic, but are also a perfect buffet for bees*. Withered branches should be removed so that the Irish bell heather sprouts again for a second flush.

*Technical basis: Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) – Classification of the respective heather species as a relevant source of nectar and/or pollen for bees; The Wildlife Trusts (UK) – Description of summer- and winter-flowering heather species as an important food source for bees and other pollinators. The assessment is based on the species and flowering period.
